Boys will be Boys

So the weather finally cooperated this last weekend (only to be short lived as this weekend is a different story) but we were all outside until the very end.  I was gone in the morning and when I came home this is what I found....
This is what happens when the 3 boys are left home alone.

Blake's not hurt...just adding a little dramatics to it all.
Brett survived unharmed also however he was probably rethinking his idea.
They revamped their "ship" and added "body armor" for the next ride.  If you click on the pic you can see they named their ship "Eagle 5" and added "We brake for no one".  Any movie buff know what that is from?
Sunday evening they had convinced their dad to get the bb guns out and shoot a target which then resulted in Brett thinking he saw some frogs in a mud hole which turned into a B and b mud fight.

The brown blob that Brett is holding is Blake's other shoe.

It was a fun weekend to finally be outside...I enjoyed some time on my john deere mowing, Marty put together my new lounge chairs for the pool and well the boys had fun just being boys.

The boys and I got some R and r time.

Friday the boys and I made a trip to Emporia to meet up with my roomie, Jill and the girls...Rachael and Rebecca aka R and r.  The weather was somewhat cooperative however still a little chilly, but the kids still enjoyed the free zoo....luckily for us it's a very small zoo and didn't take long.
Rachael and Blake playing in the play area at the zoo.
Me and two of my favorite girls.
 Lil' Rebecca
After the zoo we had lunch at Applesbee's and since we had such awful service...lunch was free.  So to kill time waiting for our food...the girls showed me their cheesy faces!!

Even though the visits are short its nice to be close enough for these short visits.

More Blake and Football

I'm a little behind on posting football pics of Blake so here is from the last couple of games, except for Thursdays game, it was too cold to even get the camera out.

Blake playing a little quarterback.
He's all business on the line.
This game was this morning and it was chilly enough to need hats and gloves.  He's running for the score.
 Another quarterback pass.

Ice Storm 2013 (as if Snowmagedon wasn't enough)

I'm not sure spring is ever going to show up...knowing our KS luck it'll go straight to summer temps.  However it looks as if we have survived ice storm of 2013.  The trees had just started blooming when the ice hit...luckily it only stuck around for about 24 hours.  Even though it was not what we wanted it did make for some pretty scenery and naturally my camera does not do it justice.

These pansies are the hardiest of all plants...they survived last summers temps/drought, 15 inches of snow and now an spring ice storm.
The morning sun shining on the ice covered trees was really awesome...but my amateur photography skills/camera doesn't quite capture it.

Even though we continue to wait for spring to show up...I've still been able to mow our grass 3 times.  It will be interesting to see what kind of summer is in store for us.

It's Football Season

It's game time...Blake had his first flag football game ever this Saturday.  This might be my favorite sport the boys play, although baseball is a close second once they get to kid pitch and play the game for real.
Huddle up to get the first play, as you can see mouthpieces are all new to these kids as they were all messing with them.

Blake carried the ball the first play and received the first penalty of the game/season...he stiff-armed his defender and in 6 year old flag football there is NO CONTACT of any kind.  You really can't blame the kid as he's been playing football with his dad and brother since he could walk and it's full on tackle sometimes with them.

Here he is laying himself out to catch the pass from the QB.

The good thing about 6 yr old football is you get to play a lot of different positions in one game.  Here he is playing center.

We did discover that Blake is by no means a speedster like his brother, nor is he as agile.  So hopefully he'll just be bigger and can play the line.

So close to getting the ball carrier's flag.

Blake's spring concert

Thursday night was the spring concert for the kindergarten classes.  Blake told his teacher he was sooooo nervous before....why I don't know...the kid is always looking for an audience.  And since he's a shorty he gets to be in the front row (green white striped shirt).

Blake sang all the songs and had all the actions down.

This is Blake's buddy Kendall...her mom as Brett's 3rd grade teacher and her dad is currently the PE teacher at the boys school.

And because all the other parents were taking pictures of their kids by themselves Blake thought it was something everyone was suppose to do...so he chased me down and said "Mom you have to take my picture".
