Last Thursday Brett finally got rid of his super enlarge tonsils (and adenoids for good measure). Brett has always had one tonsil that was quite large and finally after many years of asking about it they decided that they weren't healthy and needed to come out. So at 7:15 a.m. Brett and I checked into the surgery center. Marty and Blake held down the fort at home waiting for our return. Brett was a trooper going in...didn't seem to nervous and took everything in stride. During the doctor's pre op visit he informed Brett that they would put his tonsils in a container for him to take home. Brett thought it was awesome, I thought it was quite disgusting.
Post-Op....Brett didn't have any issues during surgery and woke up without any problems. The first thing he asked me when he woke up was "Where are my tonsils?" He had to check them out right away. So with a popsicle in one hand and tonsils in another....he was a happy guy. We were able to check out at about 9:30 a.m. and with one quick stop to get the pain meds we were home. He took full advantage of the ice cream only diet and Sassy took her job of TLC very seriously.
All in all Brett's recovery has been pretty good. He's had a couple of rough days but that was to be expected. Hopefully he'll be good to go by the end of the week and can enjoy Easter weekend with family and be ready to go back to school on Monday.
